Top Quarterbacks and Receivers Join All-Starr Instructors at Under Armour Passing Academy at The Quarterback Ranch
Southlake, TX — Nearly 60 high school and middle school quarterbacks and 40 receivers from throughout Texas joined an elite coaching staff of current and former NFL players and coaches at the first annual Under Armour Passing Academy at the Quarterback Ranch July 7 and 8 in Southlake, Texas. The event was held at Dragon Stadium, home of the Southlake Carroll Dragons.
Camp Director and former NFL quarterback Rich Bartel led an instructional staff that included Jim Zorn, Brad Johnson, Brady Quinn, Chris Miller, Jeff Blake, Tom Rossley, Luke McCown, Mark Clayton, Keith O’Quinn, Glenn Smith and Jeff Dicus as well as Quarterback Ranch instructors Nate Poppell and Jeff Bell. The camp spanned two days and included 8 hours of on-field and classroom instruction. Special speaking guests included sports performance guru Brian Cain and Carroll head football coach Hal Wasson, both of whom spoke on the mental game. Camp attendees also heard from Dallas Cowboys’ nutritionist Amy Goodson.
“We were very fortunate in that Rich Bartel was able to use his relationships from his time as an NFL player and QB instructor to bring an incredibly high level of instructional talent to the field,” said Bill Webb, founder of The Quarterback Ranch and camp administrator. “When you look at the total years of playing and coaching experience – not to mention experience in quarterback coaching – it is hard to imagine any other comparable setting anywhere in the country.”
Attendees included some of the top-rated high school quarterbacks and receivers in the state of Texas.

The Quarterback Ranch is an elite quarterback training organization based in Southlake, Texas.
“While we were able to cover the mechanics and fundamentals of playing both quarterback and receiver,” Webb said. “The real value to our participants, we believe, was the ability to hear the unique perspective and finer points of the game represented by our instructors who have coached college and NFL teams, played at the very highest levels, and even won Super Bowls. With a 1 to 4 player-to-coach ratio, we created a very high level of information and knowledge exchange.”
